Therefore, the Saint Lucia Meteorological Services is issuing a flood warning for Saint Lucia with effect from 6:00 am this morning until 6:00 pm in the evening, 12th October, 2021. Residents and motorists, especially in areas prone to flooding and landslides are urged to exercise extreme caution in their activities. In addition, small craft operators and sea bathers are asked to exercise caution due to reduced visibility, gusty winds and locally rough seas. A tropical wave is currently affecting the island. Showers over the past few days in Saint Lucia, has resulted in the soils being near or at saturation, therefore, additional rainfall will increase the risk of flooding and landslides in areas prone to these hazards. Rainfall activity is expected to continue through to evening. The system is expected to produce locally heavy rainfall, gusts with showers and isolated thunderstorms.
