CARICOM funds Country Assistance Program

THE PROJECT SUPPORTS INITIATIVES GEARED TOWARD EXPANDING SAINT LUCIA’S EXPORTS AND VILLAGE TOURISM PRODUCT.

In efforts to promote balanced economic and social development, and reduce the gaps within the island’s development, the Government of Saint Lucia has collaborated with the CARICOM Development Fund (CDF) for the Saint Lucia Country Assistance Program (CAP).

The project, now in its second cycle, aims to support initiatives that are geared to expanding Saint Lucia’s exports and village tourism development.

At a ceremony which took place on March 16, at the Office of the Prime Minister, Prime Minster Hon. Allen Chastanet signed the agreements for financing.

The Chief Executive Officer of the CARICOM Development Fund (CDF), Rodinald Soomer, detailed elements of the program, while Prime Minister Chastanet explained how the initiative, led by the Saint Lucia Trade and Export Promotion Agency (TEPA), will benefit the nation.

The grant for village tourism was in the sum of EC$324,000 and the grant for co-financing for the development and support to implement the revised National Export Development Strategy for Saint Lucia, was in the sum of EC$332,000.
