by Anicia Antoine, GIS

President of the Shipping Association of Saint Lucia, Leslie Jn. Baptiste, indicated that logistics was one of the integral parts of the shipping process where planning, execution, and control of the procurement, movement, and stationing of personnel, material, and other resources are needed to achieve set objectives.

Jn. Baptiste explained that the advent of technology has made shipping even easier, advising the business community to take advantage of what exists.

Highlighting that amazon has been instrumental in changing the business approach to shipping, he called on the business community to work together to do the same. Jn. Baptiste also explained that the shipping industry has provided many employment opportunities the world over. Given what he described as Saint Lucia’s strategic location, Jn Baptiste believes that more can be done to take advantage of opportunities within the shipping industry.

The symposium emphasized the best practices associated with shipping for exports, available services and service providers.
